The rest of this journal is in numbered format because the thoughts don't really flow together that well.
1. I'm still not watching anime. I like the art style... just not the stories that wind up with it. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a hater and I don't have anything against people who are anime fans... but I take things too personally to enjoy a genre infamous for its unsatisfying endings, flagrant over-use of pop culture, historical inaccuracies, inappropriate, awkward, and often ludicrous sexuality, and cultural stereotypes.
2. Sleeping makes me feel better, but that can be fleeting. I think a few days of relaxation would definitely help.. too bad I won't get them.
3. I'm considering opening commissions again. I don't know how much for, since I don't think there will be a whole heck of a lot of interest. Let's face it, there are upsides and down sides to having a more quiet online life. The upside is less drama... the downside is fewer contacts. Oh well, I'll drop the line... if anyone's interested, leave a comment. I'm pricing really low since I don't have a whole lot to do and I really need the money. So like... $10 for a photoshopped piece.
4. Next year has a lot on its plate. Me and JP are once more applying to JAFAX, as well as we'd like to work the con in Dearborn called Youmacon. They were already full by the time we heard of 'em so this year isn't really an option. Also there's a new trip that's in the works that I'm very excited about and hopefully I'll get to see some friends again.
I guess that's it for now. The heat is finally breaking it looks. Which will be nice, because I have to fix the poor apartment now that it's been just short of trashed in the mad prep for JAFAX.
I'm probably tired.
Which is a shame, because I have a lot of stuff to scan and put up here and I wanted to work on my character for ~TheMoorchild 's new group. It's been interesting researching her, albeit difficult.
At some point it's probably going to kind of hit me again that Fletcher's gone. After he died I pretty much buried myself in work for JAFAX and now that it's over, there's more time to reflect on what was lost.
Speaking of which. I never knew any of Farrah Fawcett's work, and was never a fan of Michael Jackson, so while I do extend my respectful sympathy at their passing, they're not the celebrity death this past week that brought tears to my eyes. Billy Mays was my favorite commercial guy, and as a commercial/infomercial lover, that means something. I always grinned anytime he was on screen. There was something just so lively and friendly about him, something kind. I'm really, really going to miss him. No one else in the genre even comes close. RIP, Billy Mays. Thank you for sharing your light with the world.
